Jangyup’s new paper on chemical functionalization of bilayer graphene has been published in Nano Letters. Congratulations Jangyup and team!

Abir’s recently published paper “Realizing Optoelectronic Devices from Crumpled Two-Dimensional Material Heterostructures” was selected to be the ACS Editors Choice. An honor given to highlight the top one paper across the entire family of ACS journals per day.

Jaehyung Yu just defended, and is leaving us to start his postdoc with Jiwoong Park’s lab at UChicago. Congratulations Jae, we will miss you!

We taught the mechanical design class this semester, ME370. We created a new class project where students have to build walking robots. At the end of the semester, they had to have a race out on Bardeen quad. Check out the results!

We have just installed a new metal organic chemical vapor deposition furnace from PlanarTECH inside the MNTL cleanroom. We helped PlanarTECH design the MOCVD system so that we can simultaneously test growth of new experimental 2D materials, vary the chemistry during growth to produce alloys and heterostructures, and reliably grow wafer scale monolayers. We are excited to start using the system this summer, and see what it is capable of!
