Welcome to the van der Zande Lab! We are a new research group initiated in August 2015 as members of the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. We are an interdisciplinary nanoscience group focused on engineering new electronic, photonic and mechanical devices using 2D materials as molecular building blocks. Our labs are located in the Micro and Nanotechnology Lab (MNTL), Rooms 257 and 226.

We are hiring graduate students and undergraduates! Experimental experience in some of the following areas is strongly preferred: Micro/nanofabrication, nanomaterial synthesis, nano-electro-mechanical systems, optics, nanoelectronics, photonics. We do not currently have funding for postdocs, but will always happily consider fellowship funded Postdocs or visiting scientists. Talented individuals, email arendv@illinois.edu.
