Welcome

The van der Zande lab is an nanotechnology research group focused on engineering new electronic, photonic, and mechanical devices using 2D nanomaterials as molecular building blocks. We are part of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, but have affiliations with Mechanical Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Physics. We are truly interdiscliplinary, with students from each department as part of our team. Our primary lab location is in the Materials Research Lab (MRL), Rooms 434 and 428, with growth tools located in the Holonyak Micro and Nanotechnology Lab Room 226.

We are hiring graduate students and undergraduates! Experimental experience in some of the following areas is preferred: Micro/nanofabrication, nanomaterial synthesis, nano-electro-mechanical systems, optics, nanoelectronics, photonics. We will always happily consider fellowship funded Postdocs or visiting scientists. Talented individuals, email arendv@illinois.edu.
