Welcome

Welcome to the van der Zande Lab! We are an interdisciplinary nanotechnology group in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Our research is focused on engineering new electronic, photonic and mechanical devices using 2D materials as molecular building blocks. We have two lab locations. Our materials growth facilities are are located in the Micro and Nanotechnology Lab (MNTL), Rooms 257 and 226, while our fabrication and characterization capabilities are located in MRL 434 and 428

We are hiring graduate students and undergraduates! Experimental experience in some of the following areas is preferred: Micro/nanofabrication, nanomaterial synthesis, nano-electro-mechanical systems, optics, nanoelectronics, photonics, and wearable electronics. We will always happily consider fellowship funded Postdocs or visiting scientists. Talented individuals, email arendv@illinois.edu.
